Guadalajara

Guadalajara is Mexico's second largest city and a very popular tourist destination. The area has been at the center of Mexican history for hundreds of years and there are signs of it all around town. The weather is near perfect year round so anytime is good for a visit. Because of the excellent weather most of the more popular activities are outdoors. Guadalajara is probably the most family friendly destination in Mexico with lots of activities for the kids.

The main attraction of Guadalajara is the history; the city is a well preserved example of a Mexican city from the colonial period. Of course as the country's second largest city there is a lot more than just old buildings but that is the main reason that people come. There are a number of museums in the city that cover not only the colonial period but also go back to the days of the Aztecs. It is also fairly convenient to head out of the city to actually visit the ruins of Aztec sites. Mexico is a country with a long and fascinating history and much of it can be viewed in Guadalajara.

The other main attraction of Guadalajara is tequila. The area is where tequila was invented and where it is still made. In fact you can't call it tequila unless it is made in the region. There are over two hundred different kinds of tequila and Guadalajara is the perfect place to sample them all. You can also take a tour to see how tequila is made if are interested. Of course any city that is famous for making tequila is going to have a vibrant night life and that is certainly true of Guadalajara.

There is far more to Guadalajara than just history and drinking. The city is actually a great family destination. There is an outstanding zoo in the city as well as a few different amusement parks. The city's near perfect weather also attracts a number of festivals throughout the year. It seems like there is always something going one in the city. You will need to check the calendar of events so that you can plan your vacation to coincide with a festival that you are interested in.

The outstanding weather also makes Guadalajara a great destination for outdoor activities. The most popular of these is golf. There are a number or excellent golf courses around the city. The area also attracts many tennis players who make the trip just to play. There are a number of excellent courts and the fact that so many players show up in the city makes it easy to get a game regardless of what your skill level. There a number of other activities that you can take part in as well. After all Guadalajara is a large city, you can do almost anything that you can think of during your visit.
